Treading Waters….

This morning I saw the sky tinged pink in a dawn glow,

The sun blazed over the hills and battled with the frost,

Feeling numb but not from the cold,

I turned up the volume to drown out the noise,

And thought how beautiful it all seems,

When you’re the only one awake,

I could have kept driving, how easy it would have been,

To keep going and never look back,

Instead I will just stay here,

And tread the waters.

  1. Probably so. I think poetry can come from pain much more than novel writing can at times. Things seem to take on a different quality at moments of extreme happiness or extreme sadness and poetry seems to reflect them better somehow.
